Frequently Asked Questions

  • What should I do to prepare for Pure Maintenance to service my home?
    • You will receive a message a few days before your service to confirm your appointment and give basic instructions for preparing your home. These instructions will be simple, like open all closets, close all windows, etc. The home will also need to be vacant during the treatment process.
  • Do I need to take wall art down before the treatment?
    • Pure Maintenance has never had any issues with wall art because of the dryness of the fog for the treatment. But many people do feel comfortable taking expensive paintings down or covering them with a sheet.
  • Do I need to put away fruit or other foods left out in the kitchen?
    • The EverPURE chemical Pure Maintenance uses is FDA approved for food contact, but to retain the taste of your food, you may want to place it in a ziploc bag or in the fridge.
  • How long do I need to wait before re-entering my home?
    • Each job depends on the size of the home, but a Pure Maintenance employee will inform you of how long the process will take. You might notice a different smell when you return home, but it will dissipate quickly.
  • Is it safe?
    • Yes. The products are green and approved by the EPA.
  • Do I need to get everything out of my house?
    • No, in fact, it might be best to keep as many belongings in the home as possible. Mold spores can get trapped inside furniture, clothing, mattresses, any fabrics, etc. and all of those can be treated with the Pure Maintenance technology.
  • Will it get behind the walls?
    • Any place that a mold spore can get in or out of, the dry fog can access and destroy it. In special situations where there is a known issue of mold behind walls, we can poke a few ⅛ inch holes between the studs to treat the back of the wall directly.
  • Will I need to clean everything after the treatment?
    • No. It does not leave residue in your home, so all items in it will be clean.
  • Does it kill bugs?
    • Bugs don’t like the treatment, and many customers have reported that it does kill bugs. But this treatment is not approved by the EPA as a pesticide.
  • What will the mold look like after the treatment?
    • If the mold has created any stains, those will not go away with the treatment. But we can remove those for you for a small additional cost. If you want, you can also remove the stains yourself after the treatment without concern for your safety.
  • How long does the treatment last?
    • This can be a permanent solution if all moisture and water issues are resolved. With minor moisture issues like humidity or condensation on windows, we have tested it at about 6 years and have not been able to find mold growth thanks to the EverPURE protectant. With major water issues, you will only get about 90 days of protection.
  • How will I know if it works?
    • Your technician will take an air sample when the treatment is done and send it to an independent third party lab. You will get the results about 4-5 days later via email.
